Listed for auction is a commemorative postal envelope signed by [4] four prominent artists/illustrators of the early 20th century. The envelope commemorates ''Gilbert Charles Stuart'' and is signed by the following artists, 1]Fontaine Fox [1884 1964] was a American cartoonist and illustrator who is best known for writing and illustrating his Toonerville Folks comic panel from 1913 to 1955. His autograph is signed ''Fontaine Fox'' in black fountain pen. 2] Denys Wortman [1887 1958] was a painter, cartoonist and comic strip creator. His comic strip Metropolitan Movies ran nationwide from 1924 to 1954. His autograph is signed ''Denys Wortman'' in black fountain pen. 3] McCelland Barclay [1891 1943] was an American painter of pin-up art and was noted for his work in movie posters for Hollywood and recruiting posters for the military during the opening of World War II. His autograph is signed ''McClelland Barclay'' in blue fountain pen. 4] Tony Sarg [1880 1942] was a noted German-American illustrator and puppeteer who is described as ''America's Puppet Master''. His autograph is signed ''Tony Sarg''
in blue fountain pen. The cover is postmarked Narragansett, R.I, Sep 5, 1940, and is affixed with four commemorative postage stamps which honor Gilbert Charles Stuart. The cover measures 4.50 x 10.50 inches, it has some toning and edge wear otherwise it is in good condition. The cover is an outstanding collectable containing authentic autographs of four prominent artists and is ideal for a framed display.
