English Wine Champagne Table Coasters Pair, Antique Silverplate, Fruitwood Bases

We brought loads of silver and silverplate items from England when we moved to America in the early 1970's. These regal silverplate on copper coasters have been in our family over 100 years and were handed down to our granny and eventually to our mum, who has passed on and left us with more things than we have space for.
Made of silver or silverplate, notable coaster examples typically have a turned hardwood base with a central silver boss, and are usually covered on the bottom in green baize (aka: 'felt'). These two examples are pleasantly simple with elegant fluted siding and a soft turned, accented rim. Please view other ones for sale online and you'll likely not find others with a similar, somewhat regal, design... these are quite unique in overall design style of the era.
They'll help prevent any wine runs from from staining your table cloth, or on a table without a cloth, the felt base allows the wine or champagne to be slid from one guest to the next.
They seem of very good quality and are in strong structural condition. They show wear commensurate with enjoyable use and upkeep over the years, with a lovely patina showing the copper beneath from countless polishes, after who knows how many dinner parties and festive gatherings.
There are still traces of servant's dried polish, which I'll leave in place since I have been scolded for polishing other silver/plated items I've recently sold. Like me, you may adore their charm and wonderment vs. perfectly shiny silver. If only they could talk!
There are no hallmarks and the central silver bosses have never been monogrammed; they're ready for your initials, your family crest, or the initials of who you may gift them to.
