summer. Your response -- in time of sadness and need -- means more thank I can ever say. With my most sincere thanks." Sincerely, Ted Kennedy.
Its no coincidence that he is most likely referring to the
Chappaquiddick incident that happened three months earlier
and was a single-vehicle car accident that occurred on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts, on Friday, July 18, 1969. The late night accident was caused by Senator Ted Kennedy's negligence, and resulted in the death of his 28-year-old passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, who was trapped inside the vehicle. It can be said that Ted’s wife Joan blamed her third miscarriage on the Chappaquiddick incident.
Condition:
This book is a stated first printing. Inscribed to Carl and Marilynn “With my best wishes and appreciation” - Ted Kennedy 1969 (with the same black pen he signed the letter with).
It is in very good used condition in a likewise dust jacket with the orig. price of .95 remaining on the inside flap. The jacket has typical edge wear but is not torn or chipped. The lower edge of the rear book board is “bumped” which can be discerned in our photos. Inside the text is clean and the pages are without moisture, creases, smoke odors, etc.
