Antique Gorgeous DSD Silverplate Australian Oval Dish Circa, Late 1800’s Rare

Gorgeous Silverplate Oval Lidded Vegetable Dish Ornate in very good condition commensurate with the age.  Made by David Stewart Dawson Co (DSD Engraved); This antique is so elegant with a gorgeous ornate design; it is expertly polished.  It is a heavy piece.  It is showing two light dings inside the lid with some scratches as shown in photo #10 and at the top, around the lid handle, photo #6 .  The dish on its inside and on its back comes with light scratches photos #8 & #9,
Please Note
that the lid handle can be attached properly to the lid, but there is a small distance from the lid to the handle (please see photo #11), otherwise it is an amazing piece, so lustrous and high quality.  The finial handle is removable, allowing the top use as a second dish.  It is a perfect addition to your collection!  Rare to find. This amazing piece is Made by David Stewart Dawson (DSD) born in Scotland and moved to become an Australian maker of Jewelry and Fine Dining items with being known as a property tycoon.
He served his apprenticeship in England and founded a successful business there.
In 1886 he decided to move back to Sydney and founded the business of Stewart Dawson Co.
His earlier works would be marked DSD, later he would change to SD.
Today the business is owned by a New Zealand-Australian retail company, James Pascoe Group, The Steward Dawson Brand is no longer in used.

Silver tarnish will appear as a dull, yellowish, gray or black film on the surface of the Silver. After a pro-long period, forming an all  round blackening of the Silver object.
Silver Patina is a gorgeous, rich, warm, soft, lustrous finish that forms over time as a result of use and handling. When tarnish is left in the small creases and recessed areas of Silverplate or Jewelry pieces, it is called patina. Tarnishing process coupled with hand polishing causes pieces to develop a rich patina.
New and unused silver has a “factory shine” or mirror bright surface on which patina has not had a chance to develop. Patina is part of the living finish of silver and should be appreciated.
Tarnish and Patina are not the same.  Patina is very desirable on antique silver.
