Description
German physicist Marcello Pirani (1880-1968) typed and signed this brief noteto a Dr. Hull wishing him a happy new year. Pirani is known for his invention of a vacuum gauge (the Pirani gauge) that measures the pressure dependence of heat loss. He also made pioneering contributions to the field of gas-discharge lamps. At the time this letter was sent, Pirani was "Direktor der Studiengesellschaft fur Elecktrische Beleuchtung" at the Osram Company.
Text in German. Printed on Pirani’s personal stationery that measures 5 ¼” x 8 ¼”.
Condition:
Fold lines, toned areas at top right and bottom left corners, otherwise good condition.
